"The Attempt" performed by Erica Felicella: Saturday June 28th from 3 to 3.30 pm

28 June 2025

We are honored to host the performance by Erica Felicella on Saturday June 28th from 3-3.30 pm

The sculptural setting of the concrete blocks and chains have been waiting for their activation. Felicella will be swinging and physically impacting her body with these blocks, to express and illustrate her break from confinment. Please note that this performance will be difficult to watch as the artist will be harming herself with the bricks.

Erica Felicella is a New England native who has called Dallas, Texas home for over two decades. With a career that began in photography, she transitioned to a multidisciplinary practice more than ten years ago, allowing her to explore the processes that shape her conceptual framework.

In 2023, Felicella expanded her practice internationally with a performance in Ireland and a self-guided residency that deepened her global perspective. This pivotal experience ignited a new aspiration: to continue creating and connecting worldwide, broadening the reach and depth of her work.

A veteran in the arts, Felicella wears many hats—artist, curator, producer, organizer, and program developer—supporting both her own practice and that of other artists and communities. Her deep-rooted advocacy in North Texas recently earned her the 2025 Moss/Chumley North Texas Artist Award from the Meadows Museum.

Her current work spans endurance and durational performance, site-specific installations, and new media. She creates work that explores collective consciousness, personal narrative, and societal reflection—striving for accessibility and engagement beyond traditional art spaces.

Felicella’s work has been featured at major institutions including the Dallas Museum of Art, Nasher Sculpture Center, Dallas Contemporary, Perot Museum, and Amarillo Museum of Art. She has also participated in international festivals such as Convergence (Ireland) and Latitudes (Bolivia), and frequently engages with outdoor and non-traditional venues.

Driven by a vision for cultural connection and community impact, Felicella remains deeply involved in nonprofit and volunteer efforts throughout North Texas. With over twenty years of experience, she sees her journey as just beginning—a lifelong commitment to art, advocacy, and expanding creative possibilities.
