Amalia Angulo
Outer
January 10 – February 14, 2026
Opening January 10, 5-8 pm

Keijsers Koning is pleased to present Outer a solo show by Amalia Angulo her first solo exhibition with the gallery. In this exhibition Amalia explores a return to her Caribbean Roots, exploring the sacred connections between nature and the divine.

The exhibition features paintings and drawings that weave together Cuban heritage, its folklore, Santeria, and the Caribbean landscape into a deeply personal mythology.

Born and raised in Cuba by her artist parents, her father a sculptor and mother a contemporary dancer and choreographer, Amalia draws upon the literary and visual traditions that shaped her childhood.  The works celebrates the sacred relationship between trees, animals, the elements, and the spiritual realm. Each piece depicts a feminine presence surrounded by exotic and lush vegetation and an animal that acts as a vessel between the spirit world and the physical realm. The depiction describes a deep connection to nature and brings about an awareness of the balance needed within our eco-system.

"This work is an act of remembering and re-enchantment. It's a deliberate celebration of the beautiful, palpable mysteries that define the light and spirit of the place I come from." – Amalia Angulo, 2025

The exhibition reflects on Caribbean culture and its landscape, celebrating its wonder, mystery, and the merging of tradition and heritage. Amalia looks upon the emergence of a new culture born out of the Caribbean diaspora with an energy of hope and joyous mystery into contemporary visual narrative. The work is where nature and divine converge, folklore becomes lived experience, and cultural memory transforms into the now.
