Stepping into the Keijsers Koning gallery, a visitor is immediately transfixed by a score of unblinking eyes. These belong to the human and animal figures in 10 drawings and paintings by Amalia Angulo, who was born in Cuba to artist parents and now lives in the Hudson Valley of New York. In these 2-foot-square pictures, long-haired nude female figures in close Edenic companionship with wild beasts poke their heads out from behind lush tropical foliage, and stare, unsettlingly, straight outward.
